        About Jane

Jane Hamill is the founder of Jane Hamill Consulting.

She works with fashion design companies on the business side of things – cash flow, costing and pricing merchandise, time management, and the steps needed to go from creative ideas to making money!

Jane has worked as a designer and retailer and understands what it takes to get a product designed, produced and sold in a competitive market.  Whatever stage you are in – from start-up to established business - Jane has been there (and probably made the mistakes already!) and can teach you how to get to the next level of business.  Jane Hamill Consulting offers seminars, workshops, online products, and private consulting for those who want to turn their creative ideas into a viable business.

Jane opened her women’s clothing boutique Jane Hamill, in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood in 1992.  The shop carried the Jane Hamill line of women’s contemporary dresses and sportswear as well as accessories, shoes, and jewelry.  Jane designed the line and had it produced in Chicago until she sold the business in 2007.   The Jane Hamill line was also carried in other stores including Mark Shale, Marshall Fields, Bloomies by Mail, Saks, and numerous specialty stores.  Her line was represented in 5 showrooms across the country.

Jane has been featured on CNN, NBC, The New York Times, InStyle, Lucky Magazine, Frommer’s, McCall’s, The Chicago Tribune, Sun-Times, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Social, Today’s Chicago Woman and more.  She was an essayist on National Public Radio’s “This I Believe” series and is featured in the book of essayists.

Jane has been consulting since 2007 and is an adjunct faculty member at Columbia College, where she teaches Retail Management.  She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a BFA in Fashion Design.

About Kate -

Kate Coxworth is the creator and designer of Kate Boggiano – a Chicago based company known for their line of women’s shirts and blouses.

After graduating for Indiana University, Kate began her career as a technical designer at Polo Ralph Lauren in New York. It was there that she learned the importance of factory communication, fitting, and commercial pattern development.

“Using the highest quality materials, construction, and USA production ensures that when you buy a Kate Boggiano blouse, you are buying an item of clothing that will be a part of your wardrobe for years to come. This is very important to us and will be for the women who buy this brand”, Kate explains.

The Kate Boggiano line also produces custom blouses. Customers can log on to the Kate Boggiano website and choose options from the fabric, all the way down to which button you would like on a one-of-a-kind blouse. The delivery? 10 days! Unheard of in the industry. This fast turn around time is possible because the product is manufactured in the United States – where Kate can keep a close eye on things and guarantee the quality of each and every blouse.

About Kristen -

Kristen Amato has created her own unique niche in the fashion world with her coveted jewelry collections under the name K.Amato. The tagline for the stylish company is “every girl should have one,” and the woman behind the reasonably priced line of earrings, necklaces and accessories knows the exact science behind why women are instinctually attracted to her jewelry.

Though she graduated from college with a degree in Chemistry, Kristen quickly veered from formulas to fashion. In 2002 the Chicago native, who was born a jewelry fanatic, created a few designs for friends that were trend conscious, sophisticated and most importantly affordable. Soon those pieces became an immediate hit with local boutiques, partially due to being named after major streets in the Windy City, and Kristen struck gold (Au).

Accented by gold-filled chains, colorful stones, delicate gold leaves, feminine filigree drops and hammered geometric shapes; Kristen’s jewelry offers the perfect blend of fashion-forward yet classic pieces for every wardrobe. K.Amato started with and continues to offer trend-based pieces handmade from a combination of 14-karat gold fill, 18-karat gold plated, and sterling silver with glass-based stones and Swarovski crystals ranging in price from $20 to $100.

The K.Amato jewelry collections are now available at over 150 stores nationwide and internationally in London and Canada. The stunning designs have been featured in publications like Vogue, Lucky, People and US Weekly to name a few and have garnered a celebrity following including Rachael Ray and Eva Longoria Parker. Seven years since the launch of K.Amato, Kristen’s clientele has grown from a few friends to a following of fashionistas who anxiously await future collections.
