In today’s laser coaching call, I’m talking to swimwear and resort designer, Danielle Pierce from Danalia.
Danielle has realized that her margins are too low and she needs to pivot her business. Her main questions is this:
“I’ve been selling to a certain type of customer and now I have to raise my prices and find new customers. What should I do?”
You can also listen on iTunes and Stitcher Radio
What we cover in this coaching call:
- Pivoting her entire business to make it profitable – it’s almost like starting over again from scratch
- What to do with her list email list of 600 people when she is pivoting her business to a higher end product
- Selling online and wholesale at the same time
- What to do when you lose motivation to create things
- Choosing a brand-new target
- Creating content to attract new people who can handle Danielle’s higher pricepoint

Great podcast Jane and Danielle. I am in a very similar place as Danielle with the exception that I’m giving myself two years to make $100,000 as ecommerce business with only 2-3 high end craft shows a year. I hit the wall with my business in many ways. I was sewing everything myself until I hated production sewing and the demand kept increasing. The website and the name needed to change and so did my approach to marketing. I know my ideal customer and have rebranded, relocated, and a new website on Shopify will be launched late August. I must find sewers. As of now I need to make money and will only be sewing during R&D training and for this first Holiday Season as I meet and train employees. My hold back has been consistent email marketing and social media. I am only using two platforms to test instead of all. And I have increased my prices. It is indeed like starting over but I’m really excited that I have drawn a line in the sand and a goal with money being the goal post. I also plan on selling the business in 5 to 7 years. Thanks Jane and Danielle for your honesty and courage! Margee

Go Margee!! Thanks for commenting. It sounds like you are finding your way and you’re totally on the right track. It’s amazing what happens when a business owner decides getting just sales is not enough. They want sales, profit, and a way to run the biz that makes the you happy. I’m wishing you everything!
